Avisery Alert: New Blog Post and Updated Desk Aid

Avisery is pleased to announce two updates. We have a new post on our advocacy blog, The Intersection, that summarizes current discussions about prior authorizations in Original Medicare and Medicare Advantage. Additionally, we have updated Avisery's Original Medicare vs Medicare Advantage Considerations Checklist for Individuals New to Medicare to include the 2026 Medicare costs.

New The Intersection Blog Post

The new blog post details the arguments for prior authorization, and the ongoing issues stakeholders have with prior authorization in Medicare Advantage. As well as the juxtaposition of recent rules from the Center of Medicare and Medicaid Services that regulate prior authorization in Medicare Advantage and the introduction of prior authorization in Original Medicare. The blog post directs readers to research articles, new articles, and the Center of Medicare and Medicaid Services press releases.

Updated Desk Aid

Avisery's Original Medicare vs Medicare Advantage Considerations Checklist for Individuals New to Medicare is a resource designed for professionals who have not received formal training as Senior Health Insurance Program (SHIP) counselors, it may however serve as a useful desk aid for more experienced counselors. It contains: 1) a checklist of questions the professional can encourage the beneficiary to consider when making their coverage decisions; and 2) an accompanying guide that provides additional background on why these questions should be considered.
