Medicare QIO Rebranding to Commence Health
The Beneficiary and Family Centered Care Quality Improvement Organization (BFCC-QIO) for Illinois recently announced that effective August 18, 2025 the program’s name changed from Livanta to Commence Health.
BFCC-QIOs contract with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to manage Medicare quality of care complaints and to review discharge appeals submitted by beneficiaries when they think services such as inpatient hospital care or skilled nursing facility coverage may be ending too soon. To learn more about filing a Medicare appeal for covered services under Original Medicare and Medicare Advantage visit https://www.medicare.gov/providers-services/claims-appeals-complaints/appeals.
Phone numbers for the program will remain the same, but the helpline phone greeting and staff email addresses have been updated to note the rebrand to Commence Health. Providers should update beneficiary notices with the new QIO name, but may keep using existing ones that list Livanta as the QIO until they run out.
