Interim Guidance from HFS on D-SNP Enrollment Verification Options
The Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services (HFS) issued a provider notice on Dec. 24, 2025 indicating that while coverage under the new Dual Eligible Special Needs Plans (D-SNPs) was effective as of 1/1/2026, the agency's enrollment systems may not yet be fully updated to reflect an individual's enrollment in these plans. Avisery recommends that professionals review the detailed guidance available in the notice that outlines alternative methods for verifying Illinois D-SNP plan enrollment if a client or patient is being denied coverage from a provider, including:
The Recipient Eligibility Verification System (REVS) accessible through the MEDI portal and the Internet Electronic Claims (IEC) web application. The provider notice lists the specific contract numbers associated with the new DSNP plans;
Verifying enrollment with the plan itself. The provider notice lists detailed contact information for each of the four D-SNP plans.
HFS will update providers when the systems are fully updated by issuing a new provider notice. To subscribe to future HFS provider notices, click here.
